Individual investments has taken control of the activity of gas stations in Saudi Arabia by more than 90 percent, while specialized companies share 10 percent only, these investments has   contributed in lowering the level of services provided by these stations, both within cities or on highways, along with the weakness of government's control.

In an interview with Riyadh AlMalek, president of the "National Committee Of Gas Stations in Saudi Councils", said that 90 percent of gas stations in Saudi Arabia are being managed by individuals who control these stations, and only 10 percent of these stations are controlled by specialized companies in operating and managing gas stations, which missed a chance to improve the service level of these stations controlled by individuals.

"This example exists only in Saudi Arabia, while in the rest of the world all gas stations are controlled by specialized companies in the field of operating gas stations that has a sufficient experience in developing and improving the level of services of these stations" Said AlMalek. He added that this situation has missed an opportunity for the development of these stations, where these stations have not seen any developments in the level of service through the latest technology to attract the operation of these stations.

Riyadh AlMalek has confirmed that there are tens of thousands of fuel stations located throughout Saudi Arabia, noting that there are seven companies: the Saudi Company for Car Services and equipments "SASCO - AlDreais " "Al-Tasheelat", "Naft", "Zaity", "Diesel", and "Petromin". These companies work on operating and managing gas stations.
